Breathe Easy
After the cover was off it was obvious that it was made specifically for this purpose, but why? All I could figure was so that water wouldn't get into the intake and ruin the blower motor. The intake isn't right under this vent but it's right next to it so if some water came in at an angle it could conceivably get in.
